Description
When grown as a herbaceous perennial Phygelius, the Cape Figwort, reaches a height of around 70cm however in more, sheltered areas it is an evergreen shrub reaching up to 1.5 metres with a similar spread. In summer, large panicles of red buds are produced which open into tubular deep pink flowers with orange lobes and yellow throats.
Phygelius Devil’s Tears prefers part shade but will take full sun. It makes an excellent feature plant in a pot on the patio or an exceptional talking point in a large pot in a warm conservatory where it will form a large, evergreen shrub.
