Description
This species of Beard-tongue is native to California and Oregon, where it grows on dry hillsides. Plants form a low, shrubby clump of evergreen leaves, bearing spikes of clear-blue flowers from late spring to mid summer. Removing faded flowers will encourage more buds to form all summer long. Attractive to both butterflies and pollinators. Requires well drained soil and grows well in planters. Performs very well in the rock garden, as an edging, or in mixed tubs and containers. Plants should be pruned back hard to about 5cm in early spring as the new stems provide the best colour. Drought tolerant, once established.
