Description
Lythrum salicaria Blushis closely related to a European wildflower which makes it exceptionally valuable for pollinating insects. With its nearly 90cm tall spikes of bright deep pink flowers in summer and into the autumn it looks stunning in a cottage garden or border.
The stems are quite woody but we find it’s best to cut them down low in spring which encourages healthy, strong shoots from the roots & base of the plant. The lance shaped green leaves are held in opposite pairs on the stems which terminate in the bright flower spikes.
