Description
Meconopsis Baileyi Hensol Violet is an excellent plant for moist shady borders and woodland edges although it does not want winter wet. It is one of the most sought after Himalayan Blue Poppies. The mid-green leaves (can be blue-green in some conditions) are oblong and cordate at the base. In June & July the beautiful blue flowers are carried in groups of 3 or 4. The tissue-like flowers are surprisingly robust and make a good cut flower as well as being valuable for pollinators. The dried seed pods are popular with flower arrangers.
This hardy Himalayan Blue Poppy can be short lived but usually seeds itself around. For best results do not allow it to flower in the first year.
