🌱 Why buying local matters – from our little Lincolnshire nursery
When you buy a plant from us, you’re not just taking home something green. You’re taking home a little piece of Lincolnshire – and supporting a whole chain of local businesses at the same time.
Every single plant we sell is grown right here in Lincolnshire, by us, or one of our partner nurseries, outside, in our local climate, not forced under artificial light & heat to produce a plant as quickly as possible to maximise profits at the expense of the quality of the plant. That means they’re stronger, happier, and far better suited to your garden than anything that’s travelled hundreds of miles in a lorry. No air miles, no long-distance stress – just proper Lincolnshire-grown goodness, minimal carbon footprint.
And it doesn’t stop at the plants.
Our pots? From a supplier in Lincolnshire.
Our composts? Sourced locally.
Even our carrier bags come from a company based right here in the county.
Every pound you spend with us at a market or farmers’ market stays in the local economy. It helps keep small suppliers going, supports real people behind real businesses, and cuts down on unnecessary transport and packaging. That’s better for the planet and better for our community.
Shopping locally isn’t just a nice idea – it’s how we keep our market stalls buzzing, our high streets alive, and our corner of the world a bit greener. And honestly? It means the world to us to see familiar faces, have a chat about plants, and help you find something perfect for your garden.
While we’re at a market we shop with fellow stall holders and the local shops as much as possible to help keep the local economy strong. It is often far more cost effective than shopping at the supermarket and you can check the provenance of everything you buy directly from the producer!
So next time you’re passing a market stall or browsing at a farmers’ market, remember: you’re buying more than a product. You’re backing a whole network of local people who genuinely care.
